Lodging:  We recommend the elegant Amway Grand Plaza Hotel for your lodging needs at the EXPO. The hotel address is 187 Monroe Avenue NW, but the auto lobby entrance is on Pearl Street as is the Amway’s self-parking ramp. The hotel is two blocks from the DeVos Place Convention Center (there is an enclosed walkway from the hotel to the convention center). Make reservations directly with the hotel and ask for the EXPO’s 2007 convention room rate: $99 for single or double, $109 for three persons and $119 for four persons. These are excellent rates for this elegant hotel and include free self-parking in the hotel’s ramp (as long as your room is reserved at the convention rate). Most of the hotel’s rooms are blocked for the EXPO, but reservations should be made early since rooms fill quickly. Call the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel at 800-253-3590 to make reservations.

Amway Grand Plaza Hotel Cancellation Policy: Since the hotel fills early, there have been problems in previous years with some people overbooking rooms and then canceling these reservations just before the EXPO. This has made it difficult to maximize the rooms available for EXPO attendees. To help avoid this problem, the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel will charge one night’s lodging for each room cancelled after November 6, 2007.

Other hotels in the downtown area offering convention rates are the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown, 616-242-6000, 11 Monroe Avenue NW, which connects to the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel through an enclosed walkway, and the Days Hotel Downtown, 616-235-7611, 310 Pearl Street NW, which is located about two blocks west of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. The Radisson Riverfront Hotel, 616-363-9001, 270 Ann Street NW is located within a short driving distance of the downtown area. For a complete list of area hotels, call the Grand Rapids Convention Bureau at 800-678-9859 or go to its web site at www.visitgrandrapids.org.
